NVIDIA has made DLSS 5 quicker and lighter. It also confirmed Hogwarts Legacy support for 5 November and said DLSS 5 launches on the new RTX Spark laptops today, 16 October.

The improvements come from pipeline optimizations and model refinements. NVIDIA says the new model will ship by default in future DLSS 5 games.

On Hogwarts Legacy, developer Avalanche Software used DLSS 5 SDK controls to keep the game’s artistic intent. NVIDIA says DLSS 5 improves lighting and materials in side-by-side comparisons.
RTX Remix modders get the same artistic controls as developers, including per-object presets and masking. NVIDIA showed Fallout 4 RTX (better helmet reflections, lighting and clothing depth) and Mirror’s Edge RTX (better contact shadows and ambient occlusion). These are NVIDIA’s own claims.
New: Frame Generation Performance Mode (Preset C)
NVIDIA also released a beta Frame Generation Performance Mode, called Preset C. It is available on GeForce RTX 40 and 50 Series GPUs and RTX Spark laptops.
- It swaps the second AI optical-flow model for a faster, lighter algorithm, with “minor trade-offs in image quality.”
- NVIDIA says it is up to 35% faster on a GeForce RTX 5060.
- It works with DLSS Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.
How to Turn On Preset C
- Install the newest NVIDIA app beta update.
- Go to Settings > About and opt in to beta or experimental features.
- In the Graphics section, open Driver Settings > DLSS Override – Model Presets > Custom.
- Set Frame Generation to Preset C.
If Preset C doesn’t show up, reboot. NVIDIA does not give a minimum driver version in the article.
Why It Matters for RTX Spark Laptops
DLSS 5 launches on RTX Spark laptops today. A model that is smaller, uses less VRAM and has half the GPU overhead is the kind of change that helps a thin laptop most, where power and cooling are limited. NVIDIA calls DLSS 5 “game-changing” for these machines.
