Few K-pop acts blend loud guitars with catchy hooks quite like this one. With their new mini album out, the band opened up about the music and what the group means to them.

IMPULSE : Overview

What IMPULSE Is About?

Jungsu says the band reveals a new side with every album, and he hopes this one does the same. Gaon described the record as capturing seven desires out of countless possible ones, with the title track “Obsessed with Youth” exploring longing for youth, obsession and growth.

Three Standout Moments

• A Bring Me the Horizon connection. Oliver Sykes is credited on “Give Up The Ghost.” Jooyeon, a longtime fan, loved the topline before learning who it was, then was surprised to discover it was him. He says it showed how consistent his taste is.
• A rare acoustic track. “Breathe in, Breathe out” came from Gaon’s wish to make acoustic music that still sounds like the band. He pictured a lone person delivering a monologue under one spotlight, and says it may lead to more acoustic work.
• Hard sound, easy melodies. Jun Han explained that the band records with intensity to make live shows more fun, while keeping melodies singable so listeners can enjoy them comfortably.

Live Favourites and Teamwork

O.de’s favourite songs to perform are “Rise High Rise” and “Money On My Mind,” which keep the energy at its peak, even at festivals. The members also traded compliments: O.de praised Jun Han’s calm consistency and unique perspective, while Jun Han thanked O.de for caring for every member down to the smallest detail.

What the Band Means to Them?

Their answers were heartfelt. Jungsu called the group a presence that made his life beautiful, Gaon described it as his youth, and O.de said it spans his past, present and future. Jun Han likened it to a precious gold nugget found by chance, and Jooyeon called it the youth that planted his dreams.

Their Big Dream

Jungsu hopes people around the world feel refreshed or happy through their music. Jooyeon wants to become an even bigger band with greater performances on bigger stages.
