A new owner usually means a new plan. Since DC Studios moved under Skydance, the company formed from the merger of Paramount and Warner Bros., a report has listed the 10 films James Gunn is prioritising. Some are about to hit screens, and others are still a script and a hope.

Group 1: Nearly Finished (Post-Production)

Clayface (October 23, 2026)

The DCU’s next release is a body-horror origin story for Matt Hagen, played by Tom Rhys Harries. Mike Flanagan wrote the script and James Watkins directs. It was made on a modest budget, and the full look of Clayface’s monstrous form has been saved for the theatrical release. This is the first real test of the DCU’s horror side.

Man of Tomorrow (July 9, 2027)

The Superman sequel wrapped filming in Atlanta in August. David Corenswet’s Superman and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor team up against Lars Eidinger’s Brainiac, who debuts on the big screen. The cast reportedly includes nine Justice League heroes, which has fans expecting a team-building setup. Gunn writes and directs again.

Group 2: Cameras Rolling or Paused

The Batman: Part 2 (February 18, 2028)

Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson began production in the U.K. this year, but filming recently paused when Reeves stepped away for personal reasons. Deadline’s sources say it’s too early to know whether the date will slip. The Elseworlds sequel is expected to keep exploring Gotham’s corruption, with rumours of Victor Zsasz, Harvey Dent and the Court of Owls.

Dynamic Duo (September 22, 2028)

Likely the most overlooked project on the list. This animated film mixes puppetry, stop-motion and CGI, made with Swaybox Studios. Mason Thames voices young Dick Grayson and Logan Kim voices Jason Todd, two orphans on Gotham’s streets who face the Red Hood Gang. Arthur Mintz directs and Matt Reeves produces. Batman is expected to appear in some form. The 2028 date is deliberately chosen to suit a family audience.

Constantine 2

The sequel arrives 21 years after the 2005 original, bringing back Keanu Reeves as John Constantine and Peter Stormare as Lucifer in an Elseworlds story. Deadline lists it as in “development,” a tier above most others. Stormare previously said Reeves wasn’t happy with early scripts and wants the story to stay about demons and regular people. No production date is set.

The Brave and the Bold

Announced three years ago, this film will introduce a rebooted Batman with an established Bat-Family, including Damian Wayne’s Robin. A scooper claims it’s further along than fans think and could start shooting in 2027. But The Batman: Part 2 is stalled, and Skydance is unlikely to release two Dark Knight films close together.

Swamp Thing

Mangold’s gothic-horror take on the character has made little visible progress. He’s busy with the Timothée Chalamet heist thriller High Side. His overall deal with Paramount, signed in September 2025, could give the project a boost after the merger.

Savage Hunters

The long-rumoured Deathstroke and Bane team-up finally has a title. Greg Mottola, of Peacemaker, was reportedly a frontrunner to direct. It was said to be a priority after Supergirl, but it’s unclear if that still holds. Some fans theorise it takes place at the metahuman prison Salvation, which would tie it into the larger DCU story.

DC

Teen Titans

Nogueira joined in March 2024, but the project dropped in priority when she moved to the Wonder Woman reboot. Reportedly, Damian Wayne will lead a team that includes Starfire, Raven, Cyborg and Beast Boy, after The Brave and the Bold.

Wonder Woman

Nogueira is writing the reboot as Gunn works to complete his DCU Trinity. Adria Arjona is rumoured to play the role in Man of Tomorrow. Nogueira has said she’s searching for what feels most true about the character, and the studio has reportedly dropped the Paradise Lost prequel series.

The Takeaway

The slate has two close finishers, one stalled blockbuster and a long list of early projects. Expect a busy 2026 and 2027, followed by a much slower build for the rest. Plans can shift quickly after a merger, so treat the dates as current targets.
