India’s Campaign
India’s 85 medals were fewer than the 107 medals and 28 golds from the Hangzhou Games three years ago. The team still recovered well. At one stage India had slipped to 12th after winning seven medals without a gold on Day 9. A strong finish lifted them into the top four, including five gold medals on October 3 across wrestling, golf, cricket, archery and men’s hockey. Archery, wrestling and boxing were pivotal in the final days.
India edged Uzbekistan for fourth place. Both won 21 golds, but India had the better silver-medal count. Kazakhstan finished eighth with 84 medals, just one fewer than India.
Asian Games 2026: Top of the Table
China was never challenged. It led from the opening days and finished with 169 golds. Hosts Japan took second place with 83 golds and the most silvers of any nation (95). South Korea completed the top three.
Final Day
The last medals were decided in equestrian jumping, where riders from Qatar, the UAE and Saudi Arabia dominated both individual finals.
