Sweden win Group E, Spain finish second

Spain defeated Slovakia 5-0 to finish off the group in style, while Sweden beat Poland 3-2 to win group E. Both matches had five goals scored and a few records made, as the final matchday of the group played out to a conclusion. 

Sergio Busquets returned to the Spanish midfield, with Pablo Sarabia and Ferran Torres getting on the scoresheet. Slovakia, much like Portugal, netted two own goals to become the second team in the competition to do so.

Aymeric Laporte also scored his first goal for Spain, in his very first month as a Spanish international. The Manchester City centre-back chipped in a header to convert a lobbed ball from the right from Gerard Moreno. This is the first time in the history of the competition that Spain have scored five goals in a single match. And the misery falls in the favour of Slovakia as they are sent home in humiliating fashion. 

Sweden and Poland had a great encounter, but the Swedes ultimately edged it out. Emil Forsberg netted a brace, and so did Robert Lewandowski, but substitute Viktor Claesson scored in the 93rd minute to win the match for his country. 

Dejan Kulusevski assisted the second and third goal for Sweden, becoming the youngest player to assist two goals in a single game since the legendary Cesc Fabregas in 2008. 

Spain will go up against Croatia while Sweden face an even competition against Ukraine in the round of 16 for a place in the quarter finals.
