Fin.K.L Is Officially Reuniting: First-Gen K-Pop Icons Return After 21 Years

Some reunions feel inevitable. Others feel like a genuine gift to an entire generation of fans who never stopped hoping. Fin.K.L‘s comeback announcement falls firmly into the second category — all four original members are officially preparing to reunite as a full group for the first time in 21 years.

Fin.K.L: Announcement Details

On September 21, agency GEMSTONE E&M confirmed that Lee Hyori, Ock Joo Hyun, Lee Jin, and Sung Yuri are preparing for a genuine full-group comeback — not a one-off nostalgia moment, but what the agency describes as a sustainable, ongoing return.

Why This Isn’t Just Another Reunion?

While Fin.K.L did briefly reunite for a one-time song release through the 2019 JTBC variety show “Camping Club,” that moment was tied specifically to the broadcast rather than a genuine group comeback. This time, GEMSTONE E&M has explicitly framed the reunion as “a fresh start for sustainable activities” — signaling ongoing releases and appearances rather than a single nostalgic event.

A Legacy That Shaped an Era

Debuting in 1998, Fin.K.L stands as one of the defining girl groups of first-generation K-pop, delivering era-defining hits like “Blue Rain,” “To My Boyfriend,” “Forever Love,” and “Now.” Since their hiatus, each member has carved out remarkably successful independent careers — Lee Hyori as a solo icon, Ock Joo Hyun as a celebrated musical theatre performer, and both Lee Jin and Sung Yuri building respected careers across entertainment and acting.

Why This Comeback Matters?

Reunions from first-generation K-pop groups carry a special kind of cultural weight — they represent the foundation on which the entire modern K-pop industry was built. For fans who grew up with Fin.K.L’s music, this comeback isn’t just entertainment news; it’s a full-circle moment connecting K-pop’s earliest era with its current global dominance.

GEMSTONE E&M has confirmed that further details on activities will be revealed progressively, meaning fans can expect a steady rollout of updates in the coming weeks and months.
