Weekend Watchlist: 5 Tamil-Telugu OTT Releases You Can’t Miss This Week

Running out of things to stream this weekend? South Indian cinema has you covered with a genuinely varied lineup this week — a gritty father-daughter drama, a beloved dance reality show, a quirky sci-fi rom-com, and more. Whether you’re in the mood for intensity, laughs, or a bit of nostalgia, there’s something here for every mood.

This Week’s OTT Lineup at a Glance

Irumudi: A Father’s Fight for Truth

Directed by Shiva Nirvana, Irumudi stars Ravi Teja as Trinadh, a protective father whose world unravels when his daughter Manikanta goes missing after uncovering disturbing secrets about her friends. Following the clues left behind in an audio message, Trinadh confronts uncomfortable truths and pushes the girls to find their courage. It’s an emotionally charged drama anchored by Ravi Teja’s committed performance, and it streams on Netflix starting September 18.

Dhee 21 – Deep Impact: The Dance Show Returns

For fans who grew up watching this iconic Telugu dance reality format, Dhee is back for another season on ETVWin and Netflix. Host Pradeep Machiraju returns, joined on the judging panel by actress Anupama Parameswaran and choreographer Jani Master. Expect high-energy performances, fresh talent, and the nostalgic charm that’s kept this show running for years.

Ram and Leela: Love, Laughs, and Aliens

This one takes rom-com tropes and adds a genuinely unexpected twist. Ram, a 30-year-old who’s faced 50 rejections in his search for marriage, finally finds Leela — but she comes with a strange condition: he must never see her after 6 PM. As Ram digs deeper, he discovers Leela’s family carries a secret tied to an ancient extraterrestrial lineage that transforms her after sunset. Streaming on Prime Video from September 18, it’s a quirky blend of romance, comedy, and sci-fi that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Angikaaram: Running Against All Odds

A sports drama with real emotional stakes, Angikaaram follows Aathiran Banumathi, a gifted 200-meter sprinter from a Chennai slum who fights his way to a Commonwealth Games spot — only to be unfairly dropped from the roster. His battle to reclaim his place becomes a story about resilience against institutional bias and poverty. It premieres on SunNXT on September 18.

Modha Rathri: An Arranged Marriage with a Twist

This comedy-drama follows Maruthu and Muthuselvi, two strangers pushed into marriage by family and village pressure. Maruthu has just returned from six years working in Dubai, while Muthuselvi enters the union under her mother’s orders while quietly nursing a past heartbreak. Directed by Raja Karuppasamy, the film explores how two reluctant partners navigate tradition, expectation, and unexpected connection. It streams on Netflix from September 18.
