The Shows, Explained

Final Table follows elite Korean chefs from around the globe as they battle it out in “The Table: K-Chef 2026,” a high-stakes survival competition to crown the best Korean chef. With Ahn Hyo Seop leading the charge alongside Hong Hwa Yeon, Chang Ryul, and Jung Yoo Jin, this one leans into the culinary-competition format that’s found major success in recent years — expect tension in the kitchen as much as skill on the plate.

God’s Beads takes viewers back to 1258, at the height of the Goryeo dynasty’s brutal 30-year war against the Mongolian empire. Billed as a “military action romance,” it follows an expedition team’s fight to protect the country’s sacred relics, intertwined with the struggles of a princess determined to save them. With Ahn Bo Hyun, Lee Sung Min, and Claudia Kim in the cast, this period drama is shaping up to be JTBC’s biggest historical swing in a while.

Gold Digger is the Korean remake of the British series of the same name, and it’s got an intriguing emotional core: a young man approaches a successful, older woman, leaving her — and the audience — uncertain whether his interest is genuine love or calculated deception. Kim Hee Ae plays Min Young Joo, a publishing company CEO, while Noh Sang Hyun stars as Jung Jae Hee, the freelance designer who pulls her into an emotionally charged entanglement.

Human X Gumiho rounds out the lineup with easily the most fantastical premise. Jun Ji Hyun transforms into Gu Ja Hong, a gumiho (a mythical nine-tailed fox) who also happens to be a top actress, while Ji Chang Wook plays Choi Seok, a gifted shaman running the Osung Museum. Their fated crossing sets up a fantasy rom-com built on the tension between seduction and destiny — a pairing of two major stars that alone guarantees this will be one of the most-watched dramas on the list.

Why This Lineup Stands Out

What makes JTBC’s slate genuinely exciting isn’t just the star power, though there’s plenty of it — it’s the sheer genre diversity. A cooking competition, a war-era historical romance, a slow-burn deception drama, and a supernatural rom-com all under one network’s banner within a single stretch of time is a strong signal of JTBC betting on variety to keep audiences engaged through 2026 and into 2027.

What’s Next

JTBC hasn’t confirmed exact broadcast schedules yet, but the sneak preview alone has already generated significant buzz among K-drama fans. Given the caliber of talent attached — including two of Korea’s most bankable stars in Jun Ji Hyun and Ji Chang Wook — expect more details, including premiere dates, to roll out in the coming months.
