Yash fans gearing up for the English release of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups are in for a surprise — the film hits theaters nearly 17 minutes shorter than the original Kannada cut. Here’s the full breakdown of what changed and why it matters.

What’s Different About the English Cut?

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic first released in theaters on August 26, 2026, in Kannada. The English version rolls out across India on September 4, 2026 — but with a noticeably tighter runtime. Since the film was originally written and shot in both Kannada and English before being dubbed into other Indian languages, the trims likely reflect pacing choices made specifically for the English cut rather than a censorship issue.

Version	Runtime	Release Date
Kannada (Original)	3 hrs 14 min 12 sec	August 26, 2026
English	2 hrs 57 min	September 4, 2026
Difference	~17 minutes shorter	—

Toxic: The Story So Far

Toxic follows Raya, a ruthless man who claws his way to power in Goa under Portuguese rule, avenging his father’s death alongside his sister Ganga. His empire-building years later collide with old betrayals when his estranged son Ticket returns seeking revenge — unraveling a saga of guilt, family, and fractured loyalty across two generations.

The film stars Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth, with Akshay Oberoi, Darrell D’Silva, and Sudev Nair rounding out the cast.

What’s Next for Yash

Beyond Toxic, Yash is set to reunite with Ranbir Kapoor for the mythological epic Ramayana, slated for a Diwali 2026 release, followed by a second part in 2027.

FAQs

Q1. Why is the English version of Toxic shorter than the Kannada version?

The film was shot separately in Kannada and English, so the runtime difference likely comes from distinct editing choices for each version, not censorship.
