Marvel’s September 2 Comics Drop Sends Heroes Straight to Hell

Marvel Comics isn’t easing into September — it’s diving headfirst into chaos. This week’s lineup sends Black Panther and Namor into the underworld, celebrates 50 years of Spider-Woman, reunites Venom with an old enemy tied to Mister Fantastic, and unleashes a full-blown zombie outbreak on Manhattan. If you only pick up a handful of comics this week, here’s everything worth knowing.

Black Panther and Namor Team Up in Hell

Leading the charge is “Black Panther/Namor: Doomed” (2026) #1 by Ethan S. Parker, Griffin Sheridan, and Stefano Nesi. Spinning directly out of Captain America (2025) and Avengers: Armageddon (2026), the story sends two rival kings into Hell itself after demons attack Wakanda and Atlantis. Once there, they discover they’re not alone — the wandering soul of Doctor Doom is waiting for them.

Spider-Woman’s Big Anniversary Special

Marking a full five decades since her debut, “Spider-Woman 50th Anniversary Special” (2026) #1 brings together Ann Nocenti, who returns Jessica Drew to Los Angeles for a detective-style mystery, and Dan Watters, who offers a chilling glimpse into her future. It’s a jam-packed issue built for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Armageddon Escalates in Captain America

In “Captain America” (2025) #15 by Chip Zdarsky and Valerio Schiti, the stakes hit a fever pitch as Red Skull’s army of vengeful spirits clashes with the free souls of the underworld. Captain America must rally the dead into an army of his own to stop Mephisto’s forces before it’s too late.

Venom’s Uncomfortable Reunion

Al Ewing and Carlos Gomez continue “Queen in Black” in “Venom” (2025) #261, bringing back one of Venom’s oldest grudges. Years ago, Reed Richards forcibly removed a symbiote from a friend and locked it away for study — now, with the world at stake, Reed has no choice but to work alongside the very creature he once imprisoned.

Zombies Overrun Manhattan

“Marvel Zombies: War Zone” (2026) #1 by Tom Waltz and Tony Parker throws Earth’s Mightiest into a rapidly spreading viral outbreak. As a barrier goes up to contain the infected, one man moves through the chaos not looking to survive, but to find answers — and the Punisher isn’t interested in playing nice with the undead.

The Mangaverse Returns for a Possible Finale

Celebrating 25 years of Marvel Mangaverse, “Marvel Mangaverse: Web of Blood” (2026) #1 reunites father-son creative team Joe and Jack Kelly with artist Kenny Ruiz. In a world where magic has replaced technology, Miles Morales, Laura Kinney, and Illyana Rasputin must decide whether their choices will save their world — or end it.
