Top 5 Viki Dramas That Ruled August 2026 — From Sniper Moms to Shanghai Romance

Summer’s winding down, but Viki’s drama lineup went out with a bang this August. From a secret assassin balancing office life to a decades-spanning Shanghai romance, these are the five titles fans couldn’t stop watching this month — listed in no particular order.

August 2026’s Top 5 Viki Dramas

A Bona Fide Killer

By day, Yu Bo Na is an unremarkable sales manager at Durumi Electronics. By night, she’s “Kingfisher” — a legendary sniper trying to keep her double life from unraveling. Kong Hyo Jin leads this action drama with a premise that’s as relatable as it is thrilling: a working mother simply trying to protect her work-life balance, except her job happens to involve assassinations. It’s a fresh spin on the action genre, blending office comedy with high-stakes tension.

My Bias, My Boss

Adapted from a popular webtoon, this romantic comedy follows Nam Da Reum, who joins a company hoping to cross paths with her longtime celebrity crush, Lee Chan — only to find herself falling for someone entirely unexpected: the company’s CEO, Kang Ha Gi. With Kim Hye Jun and Kang Hoon leading the charge, the show has built a loyal fanbase around Kang Ha Gi’s awkward, endearing charm, making it one of the season’s most talked-about slow-burn romances.

The Affair Was Just the Beginning

Don’t let the title fool you — this black comedy suggests that infidelity might be the least shocking secret on the table. The story follows a picture-perfect influencer couple whose curated happy-family image begins to crack when they get entangled with their neighbors, a doctor couple mid-divorce, over a revelation far darker than any affair. It’s a sharp, satirical look at how public image and private chaos rarely stay separate for long.

Dream to You

This romantic comedy reunites two people who once shared a dream, only to end up on opposite paths. Woo Soo Bin, a genius film director, returns home having achieved everything he set out to do, while reporter Ju Yi Jae has quietly lost sight of her own ambitions. Hwang In Youp and Hyeri anchor the story, exploring what happens when success and stagnation collide in a second chance at connection.

Overdo

Set against the turbulence of Republican-era Shanghai, “Overdo” follows Murong Qing Yi, the youngest son of a powerful warlord, and Ren Su Su, the courageous woman who saves him during a harrowing escape. Torn apart by tragedy, the pair unexpectedly reunite three years later. With Zhang Ling He and Wang Chu Ran leading, the drama offers a sweeping, historical backdrop for its central romance — a strong pick for fans of period dramas with emotional stakes.

Which One Was Your Favorite?

Soompi’s readers got to vote on their top pick for August, and the range of genres on this list — action, rom-com, black comedy, and period drama — shows just how varied Viki’s catalog has become this year.
