Hanuman Ansh’s Miracle Run: How a Small Devotional Film Turned Into a Box Office Surprise

Nobody saw this coming. Hanuman Ansh, a low-budget devotional drama that opened to nearly empty theatres, has quietly turned into one of 2026’s most unexpected comeback stories. On its 3rd Tuesday, the film jumped 104% from Monday, collecting Rs. 2.35 crore — proof that word-of-mouth can still outrun a weak opening.

From Forgettable to Formidable

Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, one of Hindu mythology’s most beloved figures, the film leaned into faith-driven storytelling at a time when big-budget spectacles dominate screens. Week one barely made a dent — just Rs. 85 lakh. But something shifted. Audiences started talking, theatres started filling, and by week three the film was pulling in crowds it never had on day one.

Hanuman Ansh: Tell the Story

The film is now tracking toward Rs. 9 crore for the week, which would push its full nett total to around Rs. 11 crore — a genuinely impressive number for a movie made on a shoestring budget.

Why This Matters

Slow-burn turnarounds like this aren’t new, but they’re rare. A similar late bloom happened with Laalo: Krishna Sada Sahaayate, which stayed under the radar for a month before catching fire. It’s a reminder that in Indian cinema, devotional content can defy every early prediction once genuine audience connection kicks in. The road ahead isn’t easy — Hanuman Ansh now has to hold its ground against the release of Toxic. But if it manages even a modest hold, this quiet little film could end up a certified Clean Hit.
