There’s something about a reunion romance that hits differently — two people who once loved each other, separated by time and circumstance, finding their way back. It’s a trope K-dramas have perfected, and the Soompi and Viki team just shared their personal favorites. Here’s the full breakdown, plus why each one is worth your watchlist.

Top 6 Reunion Romance K-Dramas

Dream to You follows film director Woo Soo Bin (Hwang In Youp) and reporter Ju Yi Jae (Hyeri), who reconnect after he returns having achieved the dream they once shared in high school. What makes this one stand out is how their romance isn’t just about rekindled feelings — it’s about two people helping each other heal and grow through obstacles in both their personal and professional lives.

Motel California centers on Ji Kang Hee (Lee Se Young), a rural girl who grew up in a motel of the same name. After a fateful night with childhood friend and first love Cheon Yeon Soo (Na In Woo), she leaves home to build a life in the city. The drama’s real strength lies in the aching anticipation of their eventual reunion, with Na In Woo delivering a portrayal of quiet, long-held yearning.

Last Summer tells the story of childhood neighbors Baek Do Ha (Lee Jae Wook) and Song Ha Gyeong (Choi Sung Eun), who reunite years later when Do Ha returns as a successful architect and moves back in with her for the summer. This one is a slow burn in the best sense, with playful bickering that keeps romantic tension simmering throughout.

Love, Take Two takes a more mature approach, following former lovers Lee Ji An (Yum Jung Ah) and Ryu Jeong Seok (Park Hae Joon) as they navigate single parenthood and unexpectedly find their way back to each other. The gradual pacing allows old wounds to soften naturally, balancing romance with the complexities of blended family life.

Family by Choice explores a trickier dynamic — Kim San Ha (Hwang In Youp) and Yoon Ju Won (Jung Chaeyeon) grew up like siblings, but when San Ha returns after a decade apart, he can no longer hide feelings that go beyond friendship. It’s a reunion romance that plays with the tension between found family and romantic love.

My Youth rounds out the list with perhaps the most emotionally layered reunion, between Sunwoo Hae (Song Joong Ki) and Sung Je Yeon (Chun Woo Hee). Their reconnection isn’t just about romance — it’s about confronting mortality, lost ambition, and learning to accept each other fully even as circumstances change.
