Comic Con India Announces Visakhapatnam as 2026-27 Season Opener

Comic Con India, a prominent fixture in the nation’s pop culture landscape, is set to commence its 2026-27 season in Visakhapatnam (Vizag). The event marks the first time Comic Con India will be held in the city, scheduled for October 10th and 11th, 2026, at the Kalam Convention Centre.

The expansion into Vizag signifies a strategic move by the organizers to broaden the event’s reach beyond traditional metropolitan centers. Since its acquisition by NODWIN Gaming (https://nodwingaming.com/), Comic Con India has consistently aimed to make pop culture experiences more accessible across various Indian cities, including tier 2 markets.

Shefali Johnson, CEO of Comic Con India, highlighted Vizag’s evolving cultural landscape. “Visakhapatnam has a strong connection with Telugu cinema, and its fandom culture is now expanding into areas like anime and cosplay,” Johnson stated. “The city is emerging as a vibrant pop culture hub, and we aim to integrate local stories and cultural influences alongside contemporary formats at the event.”

Akshat Rathee, Co-founder and MD of NODWIN Gaming, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to accessibility. “Bringing Comic Con to new cities aligns with our vision for broader pop culture access,” Rathee commented. “The strong attendance figures from the previous season underscored the widespread interest in fandoms across the country. Vizag, with its increasingly engaged pop culture community, presents an opportune starting point for our 2026-27 journey.”
