Anurag Kashyap Finally Breaks His Silence On Marrying Shubhra Shetty

Anurag Kashyap has never been one to sugarcoat things, and his latest chat with Janice Sequeira proves it once again. Talking about his relationship with girlfriend Shubhra Shetty, the filmmaker got candid about marriage, age gaps, and what actually matters to him at this stage of life.

What Anurag Kashyap Actually Said

Anurag revealed that Shubhra doesn’t believe in marriage, and honestly, he’s made peace with it. For him, the label matters far less than the bond itself. “I’m very happy to be with her. I want to be with her. So, whatever that takes,” he shared, adding that his real fear isn’t commitment — it’s outliving the people he loves. He also opened up about becoming more conscious of their 20-year age gap over the years, especially since Shubhra continues to look far younger than her age.’

Anurag And Shubhra’s Relationship Timeline

Interestingly, this isn’t Anurag’s first go at marriage. He was earlier married to editor Aarti Bajaj, with whom he shares daughter Aaliyah Kashyap, before the two separated in 2009. He then married actor Kalki Koechlin in 2011, a marriage that also ended after four years. Marriage as an institution, much like the broader concept covered on Wikipedia, clearly means something different to him now than it once did.

Why This Story Is Striking A Chord

Age-gap relationships in the spotlight always spark conversation, but Kashyap’s refreshingly vulnerable take — choosing presence over paperwork — is what’s really resonating with fans online.
