Steel Ball Run Finally Gets The Weekly Treatment It Deserves

After a rocky start earlier this year, Netflix’s anime slate for September 2026 is shaping up to be one to actually look forward to. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run headlines the month with a proper weekly release, alongside a packed lineup of ongoing fan-favorite series.

Steel Ball Run Returns

After a controversial single-episode drop back in March sparked serious fan backlash, Netflix has committed to releasing Steel Ball Run weekly this time. The confirmed 11 episodes will cover the race’s second and third stages, following Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli through the brutal 750-mile “Devils’ Palm” desert challenge.

What Else Is Airing

Beyond Steel Ball Run, September carries over several ongoing series. One Piece’s Elbaf Arc continues its second cour before the show shifts to a seasonal format and goes on hiatus until 2027, so fans are being encouraged to savor the current run. Meanwhile, Thunder 3 follows a trio of childhood friends searching for a missing girl, and Daemons of the Shadow Realm continues its supernatural twin storyline through December.

Steel Ball Run is part of the long-running JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise, known for its distinctive art style and genre-blending storytelling across multiple story arcs, making its long-delayed return especially significant for longtime fans of the series.
