Bayern Munich are being linked with a sensational move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez this summer. The player has made 33 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side this term. And of them, he has played 90 minutes on 12 occasions as Atleti won the La Liga title after seven years.
He has been one of Simeone’s most trusted players, having won two each of the La Liga and Europa League and has also lifted the Spanish and UEFA Super Cup with the Rojiblancos.
He has been a part of the club for the last 13 years and is being linked with a £68 million switch to Bavaria. The German giants need to find a replacement for Thiago Alcantara and also need another man on board given that Javi Martinez left the club due to the expiry of his contract.
Chelsea are also informed about his situation, and could also engage to snatch another player from the Germans after getting the better of them in the cases of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner. However, in either case, Atletico Madrid plan on using the influx of funds to seal a move for long-term target, Rodrigo De Paul.
The Argentinian is deemed to be the perfect replacement for Saul, and will cost the capital club about £35 million. De Paul has been a part of Udinese for the last five years, and has emerged as their most important player. And at 27, he will be a direct replacement for the 26-year-old Saul if Bayern or Chelsea seal a transfer for him.
