Thalapathy Vijay’s final film as a lead actor, “Jana Nayagan,” has officially hit theatres, and fans turned out in massive numbers for first-day-first-show screenings, watching what many are calling a historic goodbye after more than three decades of box office dominance. Directed by H. Vinoth with music by Anirudh Ravichander, the film brings together a stacked cast including Bobby Deol as the antagonist, alongside Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, and Gautham Vasudev Menon.
What Fans Are Saying on X
Reactions poured in fast once the first shows wrapped, with many fans framing the release as an emotional send-off rather than just another film opening. Several posts encouraged viewers to savor every dance move and mass moment, celebrating Vijay one final time on the big screen. Others praised the pairing of Anirudh’s music with Vijay’s screen presence, describing the theatrical experience as a fitting celebration for his fans. Early buzz has particularly centered on his dance sequences and commanding stage presence, with many calling it a fittingly grand farewell.
A Journey Full of Obstacles
The excitement feels even sweeter given what it took to get here. Jana Nayagan faced a pre-release online leak and a delayed ‘A’ certificate before finally reaching audiences, adding an extra layer of relief and celebration to opening day. Despite the hurdles, the film represents the culmination of a career that has made Vijay one of the most bankable stars in Indian cinema — often compared in scale and influence to the broader tradition of Tamil cinema superstardom.
