A new era begins in the Spanish capital. Real Madrid are gearing up for pre-season with Jose Mourinho back at the helm for his second stint in charge — a homecoming that promises intrigue as Los Blancos prepare for a fresh LaLiga campaign.

A Squad Still Finding Its Feet

Preparations began on July 13 with a smaller roster at Ciudad Real Madrid, as several players continue resting following the FIFA World Cup 2026. Rodrygo remains sidelined through a long rehabilitation and will miss all of pre-season and roughly half the competitive season, while Éder Militão and Ferland Mendy are also expected to sit out the early friendlies through injury. Mourinho is likely to blood several young players to compensate.

A Fresh Face in the Ranks
