K-pop’s newest boy group is diving straight into horror territory. Mnet Plus confirmed on July 20 that CORTIS will be the very first group to take on Season 2 of “SUMBAKKOKJIL” — and the eerie teaser poster alone is enough to give fans chills.

What Is SUMBAKKOKJIL?

The show’s name literally means “hide-and-seek” in Korean, and that’s exactly the premise: K-pop idols must evade a mysterious “seeker” for a nerve-wracking 4,444 seconds. Season 1 pulled in a stacked guest list of eight groups, building tension purely through the fear of an unseen presence lurking in the dark.

Why Season 2 Feels Different

This time around, Mnet is swapping the abstract dread for a story-driven format built on familiar urban legends and ghost stories. Instead of just hiding from an unidentified seeker, players will step into actual roles within each narrative as they try to escape a mysterious space — a twist that promises higher stakes and sharper scares.

CORTIS’s episode teaser already hints at a water-themed horror tale, and fans are already speculating about what’s lurking beneath the surface.
