Official: OnePlus Confirms Exit From Europe and North America, India Unaffected

The leak turned out to be right. OnePlus has officially confirmed it will stop launching new smartphones in Europe, the United States, and Canada, closing the loop on rumours that first surfaced just days ago. This time, it’s coming straight from the company itself.

What OnePlus Actually Announced

In posts on its official Community forums, OnePlus confirmed the change as part of a broader global strategy adjustment, calling the decision a difficult one while thanking long-time users for building the OnePlus Community over the years. Crucially, the company explicitly stated the move does not affect OnePlus India, where business will continue as usual.

The OxygenOS-to-ColorOS Shift Is the Real Story for Existing Users

Beyond the regional exit itself, the software change matters most for people who already own a OnePlus phone. Once ColorOS 17 officially releases, eligible OnePlus devices will get an optional upgrade path to ColorOS instead of staying exclusively on OxygenOS, a move OnePlus says is meant to simplify development and share engineering resources with OPPO. The rollback option to OxygenOS is a reasonable safety net, though OnePlus hasn’t yet said which specific software versions will support it.

If you’re in the affected regions and have posts, guides, or photos on the North American Community forum, the August 16 shutdown date is a real deadline, not a soft warning. Anything not manually saved before then disappears once the platform closes.

What This Means for the Bigger Picture

This confirms what multiple outlets reported just a day earlier, and it lines up with a broader consolidation pattern at BBK Electronics, OnePlus’s parent conglomerate alongside OPPO, Vivo, and Realme. We’ve tracked that same cost-driven consolidation pressure in our coverage of component price hikes squeezing device margins and the broader smartphone pricing shakeups happening across brands this year.

For Indian buyers specifically, this is the detail worth remembering: OnePlus isn’t disappearing here. The exit is a Western-market restructuring, not a global wind-down.

The Takeaway

OnePlus has officially confirmed its exit from new product launches in Europe, the US, and Canada, with existing device support continuing and a shift toward ColorOS on the horizon. India remains unaffected, and the North American Community’s August 16 shutdown is the one hard deadline users there need to act on now.
