Jung Jun Won Opens Up on “A Bona Fide Killer”: Fanboy Moments, On-Set Chemistry & Family Love

Playing opposite an actress he’s admired for years turned out to be exactly the pull Jung Jun Won needed. Ahead of the July 31 premiere of “A Bona Fide Killer,” the production team released a candid interview with the actor, who plays devoted husband and father Kwon Tae Sung — and his honesty about the role makes the upcoming drama even more anticipated.

The action series follows a working mother juggling an extraordinary secret: a deadly double life. Kong Hyo Jin stars as Yu Bo Na, an ordinary sales manager by day who’s secretly the legendary sniper known as “Kingfisher” — marking her first MBC drama in 15 years.

Jung Jun Won didn’t hide his excitement about joining the project. He described the script as thrilling and genuinely fun to read, admitting that getting to work alongside a long-admired actress like Kong Hyo Jin was a major draw. Interestingly, he noted that his own personality is quieter and more introverted than his character’s, which meant putting in real effort to embody Tae Sung’s energy convincingly.

On-set chemistry, though, was never in question. Jung Jun Won praised Kong Hyo Jin’s magnetic screen presence, saying working with her felt effortless and their dynamic clicked immediately — a promising sign for their on-screen married couple. He also spoke fondly of co-star Lee Sang Yi, describing their off-screen friendship as genuine and something that naturally bled into their on-screen relationship.

“A Bona Fide Killer”- Overview

Perhaps most telling was how Jung Jun Won summed up the show’s core: not as an action thriller, but as a story about family love above all else. Dual-identity narratives like this tap into a storytelling tradition seen across the broader spy fiction genre, where ordinary domestic life masks extraordinary secrets.
