18 Years Later, Park Bo Young Reunites With the Director Who Made Her a Star

Some reunions feel like coming full circle. Park Bo Young may soon join hands again with director Kang Hyung Chul, the man behind her breakout hit Scandal Makers — this time alongside Son Suk Ku in a brand-new fantasy rom-com titled If I’m With You.

What’s Cooking Behind the Scenes?

According to a report by Soompi, both actors have received offers for the project, though nothing is locked in just yet. Park Bo Young’s agency, BH Entertainment, confirmed she’s currently reviewing the offer, while Son Suk Ku’s side confirmed he’s received one too. In short: it’s promising, but not signed and sealed.

Set aboard a cruise ship, If I’m With You is described as a fantasy romantic comedy — a genre director Kang Hyung Chul knows intimately, having helmed beloved films like Sunny, Tazza: The Hidden Card, and Hi-5.

Why This Pairing Feels Special

If it comes together, this would mark Park Bo Young’s first collaboration with Kang Hyung Chul since 2008’s Scandal Makers — the film that launched both their careers into the spotlight. Eighteen years later, this reunion carries a nostalgic full-circle energy for longtime fans.

It would also be the first time Park Bo Young and Son Suk Ku share the screen as leading co-stars, a pairing that’s already generating buzz among K-drama and K-film enthusiasts.
