Every apartment complex has that one resident who knows everyone’s business — and in “The Apartment Job,” that person just met her match in a former gang boss with a hidden agenda. The new stills from this upcoming Korean drama tease a first meeting so loaded with subtext, it’s practically a masterclass in reading a room.
The story follows Park Hae Kang, once the legendary leader of the Oasis Gang, who’s traded street debt-collecting for something far more unexpected: running for apartment residents’ council president. His real goal? Getting his hands on money hidden somewhere in the building. To pull it off, he’s assembled a ragtag “family” of former gang members, debtors, and one very reluctant law firm part-timer caught up in his scheme.
The Apartment Job: Meet the Key Players
| Character | Actor | Role in the Story |
|---|---|---|
| Park Hae Kang | Ji Sung | Ex-gang boss turned council candidate |
| Jang Sook Jin | Moon So Ri | Sharp-eyed resident who misses nothing |
| Kang Ha Ri | Ha Yun Kyung | Part-timer pulled into the scheme |
The newly released stills capture Hae Kang and Sook Jin’s first face-to-face moment inside the apartment management office, right after he officially registers as a candidate. Sook Jin, there to file a complaint, spots the opportunity and extends a handshake, suggesting they team up to improve the building together. Hae Kang responds with his signature unreadable, gentlemanly smile — polite on the surface, calculating underneath.
Meanwhile, behind them, his makeshift “family” awkwardly claps and laughs along, creating a comedic contrast that hints at just how much tension is simmering beneath the friendly greeting.
According to the production team, this first encounter sets the tone for the show’s blend of humor and neighborhood rivalry — the kind of relatable apartment-life friction anyone who’s dealt with a nosy neighbor will recognize instantly.
“The Apartment Job” premieres July 11 at 10:40 PM KST, and if the chemistry in these stills is any indication, this rivalry-turned-alliance is going to be a fun ride.
