Some heists need a crew. This one needs an entire fake family, and the chaos practically leaps off the poster. The Apartment Job, Ji Sung’s upcoming drama, has unveiled its first character poster, and it’s already promising the kind of con-artist comedy that thrives on mismatched personalities pretending to be something they’re not. The series follows Park Hae Kang, a former Oasis Gang boss played by Ji Sung, who runs for apartment residents’ council president purely to get his hands on the building’s hidden money. Along the way, he ends up teaming with residents to expose corruption within the complex, all while racing against time to raise 10 billion won, roughly $6.4 million, to save Yong Man, the father figure in his life.
To pull it off, Hae Kang hastily assembles a deeply unconvincing “family.” The newly released poster captures the group dressed in a picture-perfect family portrait style, with Hae Kang confidently grinning at the center while the other six members react in exaggerated shock around him. Ha Yun Kyung plays Kang Ha Ri, a woman recruited through an odd-job service to pose as his partner, while Kim Won Hae plays Gecko, the wanted mastermind actually behind the scheme to steal the building’s hidden fortune.
Rounding out the chaos are Hae Kang’s former gang members, Jung Soon Won, Hwang Hee, and Kim Kyu Won, alongside child actor Kim Han Gyeol playing the “son” of this entirely fabricated household. This kind of ensemble-driven heist comedy draws on familiar genre conventions found across the broader con artist film and TV tradition, where assembled crews and elaborate deception drive the plot.
The poster’s tagline sums it up perfectly: “A fake family con to raise 10 billion won.” The Apartment Job premieres July 11 at 10:40 pm KST.
