GTA 6 Breaks the Internet: 39 Million Pre-Orders & $3 Billion in Just 24 Hours — Rockstar Rewrites Gaming History

Rockstar Games didn’t even show gameplay. No review copies. No pre-launch trailer. Just pure brand trust — and the gaming world went absolutely wild.

GTA 6 reportedly racked up 39 million pre-orders and generated approximately $3 billion within its first 24 hours of pre-orders going live, according to media reports. These numbers, while still unofficial, are nothing short of staggering. mezha

GTA 6 Numbers That Broke Records

How Did Rockstar Pull This Off?

Fans had seen only a few images, two trailers, and around 70 screenshots during the years-long wait — and yet Rockstar didn’t even release a trailer before pre-orders opened. That’s an almost unheard-of level of consumer trust in a single gaming franchise.

According to Wikipedia’s entry on the Grand Theft Auto series, GTA is one of the best-selling video game franchises in history — a legacy that clearly still carries enormous commercial weight.

The Financial Times had previously estimated GTA 6’s development cost at around $2 billion, projecting revenues of $3.2 billion in the first year — a target that appears to have been nearly hit in a single day alone.

Not All Smooth Sailing

Some offline retailers have refused to stock physical copies of GTA 6 since the box only contains a digital download code, with rumours suggesting the actual physical disc release may arrive in December. Pricing inconsistencies across regions have also frustrated fans globally. mezha
