What Episode 8 Set Up for the Finale

Episode 8, “Whiskey Limits,” confirmed Beulah Jackson survived her heart attack — and then detonated a bombshell that reframed the entire season. Austin revealed the Jackson family’s dirty secret to Rip, Beth, and Zachariah: the Jacksons survived the 2010 drought by running an illegal cattle smuggling operation across the Mexican border. Wes got too close to discovering the truth — and Rob-Will killed him for it. The FMD-infected bull that wiped out Rip and Beth’s herd may have been part of those smuggled cattle loads, and another load is coming in two days.

The clock is ticking. Rip and Beth now know everything — and they have 48 hours to act.

What to Expect in “El Padrino”

The official logline is simple and loaded: “Rip and Beth confront a danger that threatens everything.”

A title referencing “The Godfather” signals there’s a power broker lurking behind everything the Jacksons have built. Every thread this season — the cattle deaths, Beulah’s manipulation, the border operation — appears to lead somewhere higher and darker. The central conflict has pitted Beth against Beulah Jackson (Annette Bening), a powerful Texas ranch matriarch who views the newcomers as a threat to her empire — and what began as polite territorial friction has escalated into an all-out range war.
