NVIDIA has now officially informed about the launch of the GeForce RTX 30 LHR ‘Lite Hash Rate’ series graphics cards which are made to combat cryptocurrency mining and get more GeForce graphics cards for the gamers.

Between the existing NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series and the GeForce RTX 30 LHR ‘Lite Hash Rate’, the main difference is the addition of the new hash rate limiter which is said to be impossible to bypass.

NVIDIA said in their blog post:

Halving Hash Rate

To help get GeForce GPUs in the hands of gamers, we announced in February that all GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards shipped with a reduced Ethereum hash rate.

Today, we’re taking additional measures by applying a reduced ETH hash rate to newly manufactured GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards. These cards will start shipping in late May.

Clear Communication to Gamers

Because these GPUs originally launched with a full hash rate, we want to ensure that customers know exactly what they’re getting when they buy GeForce products. To help with this, our GeForce partners are labeling the GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 Ti cards with a “Lite Hash Rate,” or “LHR,” identifier. The identifier will be in retail product listings and on the box.

This reduced hash rate only applies to newly manufactured cards with the LHR identifier and not to cards already purchased.

GeForce Is Made for Gaming

GeForce RTX GPUs have introduced a range of cutting-edge technologies — RTX real-time ray tracing, AI-powered DLSS frame rate booster, NVIDIA Reflex super-fast response rendering for best system latency, and many more — created to meet the needs of gamers and those who create digital experiences.

We believe this additional step will get more GeForce cards at better prices into the hands of gamers everywhere.

This new graphics card will come with brand new SKUs of GA**2 branding and will feature Resizable BAR support out of the box. The NVIDIA GA**2 GPUs will be shipping in the mid of this month. So, we can expect graphics cards featuring new chips will available on the retail shelves around June 2021.

Below, these are the new NVIDIA Ampere GA**2 SKUs that will be available with the GeForce RTX 30 LHR series:

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 – GA102-200-A1 -> GA102-202-A1
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 – GA104-300-A1 -> GA104-302-A1
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti – GA104-200-A1 -> GA104-202-A1
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 – GA106-300-A1 -> GA106-302-A1

Coming to the drivers, the NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready 466.47 WHQL is the official driver which gonna support the GeForce RTX 30 LHR series graphics cards shipping in May 2021.
