Sham Kaushal Opens Up: Vicky & Katrina’s Son Vihaan Looks Like Father, Grandson Transforms Grandfather’s Life

When legendary stunt director and National Award-winner Sham Kaushal finally answered the question that had Bollywood fans buzzing—Who does baby Vihaan look like?—the 70-year-old action choreographer’s response was simple, heartfelt, and utterly genuine. In an exclusive interview with India Today, the proud grandfather revealed that his grandson resembles his father, Vicky Kaushal, not mother Katrina Kaif. But what really stole hearts was his admission that the little one has completely transformed his life.

The Kaushal Family: Three Generations of Love and Work

A Grandfather’s Pride That Transcends Screens

“He has changed my life,” Sham Kaushal confessed with unmistakable pride, describing how even his packed work schedule can’t keep him from connecting with his newborn grandson. When business commitments prevent physical hugs, the doting grandfather resorts to video calls, spending quality time talking to the little one. “Whenever I am busy with work and can’t hug him physically, I do a couple of video calls with him and talk to him. He is so nice,” he revealed.

This sentiment isn’t just about grandparental affection—it’s about how a new generation reshapes life priorities. For a man who’s been working since age nine and built an entire career in Bollywood’s demanding action filmmaking industry, Vihaan represents something precious: legacy and continuation.

The Making of a Three-Generation Bollywood Story

Interestingly, Sham dismissed any notion that his internationally acclaimed son Vicky was a troublemaker in childhood. “No, Vicky was not naughty. He was a very sorted child. He was nice,” the father reminisced fondly. This revelation humanizes Vicky Kaushal beyond his on-screen persona, suggesting that parenting consistency across generations runs deep in the Kaushal family.

According to Wikipedia’s overview of Indian cinema families, legendary action directors often pass down not just technical skills but values and work ethics to their children. Sham appears to be continuing this tradition by being actively involved in his grandson’s early life despite his demanding career. Work-Life Balance Redefined

What’s particularly striking is Sham’s perspective on retirement and work. When his sons suggest he stop working, his response is both humorous and philosophical: “What will I do if I don’t work? I have been working since I was nine years old. What will I do after having tea and breakfast?”

Yet he acknowledged that his motivation has shifted. Earlier, he worked with the anxiety of supporting his family and children. Now, in what he describes as his “secure zone,” Sham works because he genuinely enjoys collaborating with good people—not out of necessity, but choice. This mindset shift likely influences how he approaches his relationship with Vihaan, free from the financial pressures that once defined his career.
