Acorn TV’s newest cozy mystery You’re Killing Me pairs a Gen X icon with a Gen Z firecracker — and the off-screen chemistry is just as fun as what you see on screen. Would Amalia Make a Good Detective? Absolutely Not

In the most refreshingly self-aware moment of any press tour this year, Williamson didn’t even pretend. “I am so queasy when it comes to blood. And needles. And surgery. So I think I would freak out. And I don’t think I’m meticulous enough. I think I’d stomp all over and not wear protection on my hands or shoes and screw up the crime scene. So no, I don’t think I’ll make a good detective.”

She did, however, find one saving grace: “I would like the psychology aspect of things. I would like interviewing people just to see what makes them tick. But the logistics? I’d be terrible at.”

And What About Brooke Shields?

We had to push further — surely her legendary co-star would fare better? Williamson still had the same answer: “No. No I don’t. I think we are kind of similar in that way. I think we’d both forget what people just told us. And we wouldn’t write it down. Logistically no. I don’t think either of us would be very good.”

Somehow, that makes us trust them even more.

What the Show Is Actually About?

You’re Killing Me follows Shields’ mystery writer Allie as she teams up with a 20-something true-crime podcaster, Andi, to figure out who killed another author during a book convention in a small New England town. Allie has more than a little in common with Jessica Fletcher of Murder She Wrote — another bestselling novelist living in a charming small town in Maine with a surprising number of murders nearby.

The real hook, though, is the dynamic between the two leads. Off-camera, their friendship was a whole different story: “Brooke is very young at heart. We got along really well like teenagers. I still feel like I’m 21 years old and I think Brooke would maybe say something similar.”
