The Big Stories, Explained Shortly

Gemini 3.5 Flash & Omni — Google’s sharpest AI model yet is live globally right now, running four times faster than comparable frontier models at less than half the cost. Alongside it, Gemini Omni handles video, images, text, and audio all in one prompt — already live in the Gemini app and YouTube Shorts.

Gemini Spark: Your 24/7 AI Agent — This is Google’s most ambitious product yet. Spark is a personal AI agent that runs on dedicated Google Cloud machines around the clock — even when your device is off. It handles long-running background tasks, integrates with Google’s own tools, and will support third-party apps via MCP soon. Think of it as a digital assistant that never sleeps.

Search Gets Its Biggest Upgrade in Decades — Google has fundamentally redesigned Search with “information agents” — personalised AI that works in the background, surfaces what’s relevant, and prompts action at the right moment. Users can also generate dynamic mini-apps (dashboards, trackers) directly from Search using Antigravity. Gemini 3.5 Flash is the new default for AI Mode in Search globally, starting today.

Workspace Gets Smarter — Docs Live lets you speak your thoughts and Gemini structures the document for you, pulling context from Gmail and Drive. Ask YouTube lets you find specific moments across millions of videos conversationally, without knowing the video title. Universal Cart unifies shopping across Google’s entire ecosystem.

Google Pics & Daily Brief — Pics is a precision AI image tool that treats every element as a separate object for fine-tuned editing. Daily Brief is a morning agent that synthesises your inbox, calendar, and tasks into a smart, actionable digest.

Smart Glasses Are Coming This Fall — Google confirmed two types of Android XR glasses: audio glasses for hands-free Gemini assistance, and display glasses that overlay information in your line of sight. No pricing yet, but they’re landing this autumn.

By the numbers: Google now processes over 3.2 quadrillion tokens per month — a sevenfold increase year-on-year — with 8.5 million developers building on its models monthly.
