What Is Azure Spring About?
The story follows two individuals paralyzed by their past and fear of the future — Deok-hyun, a middle-aged man seeking refuge, and An-na, an anxious job seeker. Both become haenyeo (traditional female sea divers) in order to move forward, plunging into the sea with nothing but their bodies. Deok-hyun sees the sea as a refuge, while An-na sees it as an escape — and despite their different backgrounds, they find solace diving into the ocean together.
Seo An-na is an ex-youth national swimmer whose career comes to an abrupt end due to an accident, leaving her without purpose. She returns to her seaside hometown to start afresh, where she meets Yoon Deok-hyun, a shy sea diver carrying emotional baggage. Living with him, she learns to dive — and finds a new direction in life. The Daily Jagran
