BLACKPINK’s Lisa to Perform at FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony — K-Pop Just Conquered the World’s Biggest Stage

This is not a drill. BLACKPINK’s Lisa is headlining the FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles — and the world of K-pop and football just collided in the most spectacular way imaginable.

The Biggest Stage in Sport. The Biggest Name in K-Pop.

On May 9, FIFA officially announced the headliners for the FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremonies. As this year’s World Cup is being held across three nations — Canada, Mexico, and the United States — FIFA will stage separate opening ceremonies in each host country. Lisa will take the stage at the United States opening ceremony in Los Angeles, joining fellow headliners Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, Rema, and Tyla.

What FIFA Said About the Historic Lineup

FIFA President Gianni Infantino remarked that the Los Angeles opening ceremony represents the extraordinary scale of what the FIFA World Cup 2026 will become, adding that the lineup of artists reflects the cultural diversity of the United States and the vibrancy of its many diasporas — highlighting the nation’s rich influence on music, entertainment, and pop culture while showcasing the power of music to bring people together.

That Lisa was chosen to stand alongside icons like Katy Perry and represent this vision says everything about how far K-pop has travelled — from Korean music studios to the grandest global stages sport has to offer.

Why This Moment Is Bigger Than It Looks

The FIFA World Cup is the single most-watched sporting event on the planet, drawing billions of viewers across the globe. Having Lisa — a Thai-born artist who became a global superstar through K-pop — headline the US opening ceremony isn’t just a win for her personally. It’s a landmark moment for Korean pop culture’s place in the world. For more FIFA World Cup 2026 and K-pop news, keep up with Technosports.
