Netflix: Everything You Need to Know

The Plot — With a Twist

Lopez plays Jackie Cruz, a powerhouse CEO and pilot of her own airline who enforces a strict no-fraternization policy. Enter Daniel Blanchflower (Goldstein), the company’s newest lawyer — instantly smitten, hopelessly outmatched, and about to break every rule in the book.

The script was reportedly written specifically for Lopez, which explains why the role fits her like a tailored blazer.

A Cast That Packs a Punch

Beyond the two leads, the supporting lineup is genuinely impressive:

• Edward James Olmos — reuniting with Lopez nearly 30 years after Selena
• Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Whitford, Tony Hale

This isn’t just a rom-com — it’s an ensemble comedy with real firepower behind it.

The genre itself has a rich cinematic history. Learn more about the romantic comedy genre’s evolution on Wikipedia.

Director Ol Parker (who helmed Ticket to Paradise) brings proven rom-com credentials, making this a film that knows exactly what it wants to be.

Why It Could Be Netflix’s Biggest Rom-Com of the Year?

The R-rating signals Netflix isn’t playing it safe — this one leans into the adult comedy space that’s been largely missing from streaming. With a powerhouse lead, sharp writers, and a director who gets the genre, Office Romance has the ingredients for a genuine crowd-pleaser.
