Michelle Keegan Returns to Netflix and She’s Heading Back Into the Dark — The Woods Is Going to Be Unmissable

If Fool Me Once had you gripped from the first episode, brace yourself. Michelle Keegan is back in the Harlan Coben universe — and this time, a 20-year-old mystery is about to explode wide open.

What Is The Woods on Netflix?

Netflix is bringing a brand-new British adaptation of Harlan Coben’s 2007 thriller The Woods, following global UK hits like Fool Me Once and 2026’s Run Away. This marks the 14th Coben title produced for Netflix and is already generating serious buzz — and rightly so.

This marks the second time Netflix is adapting this specific novel, following the 2020 Polish mini-series of the same name — but this new production brings the story to the UK, armed with an all-star British cast.

The Woods Plot — A Missing Sister, a Second Chance at Love, and 20 Years of Lies

Twenty years ago, Paul ‘Cope’ Copeland’s sister Camille vanished from a summer camp in the woods, tearing his family apart. Now a top barrister and devoted single father, Cope appears to have rebuilt his life — until the body of a man turns up, twenty years after he was supposedly murdered alongside Camille, convincing Cope his sister may have survived. He reunites with his first love, Lucy Silverfield, and together they begin unearthing years of lies, cover-ups, and family secrets that threaten to destroy everything he has built. whats-on-netflix

It’s got all the ingredients of a perfect binge — old love, buried truth, and a past that simply refuses to stay dead.

Star-Studded Cast

The series is headlined by Tom Bateman (Behind Her Eyes, Death on the Nile) as Paul ‘Cope’ Copeland and Michelle Keegan as his first love Lucy Silverfield — Keegan making her highly anticipated return to the Coben universe after leading the global 2024 phenomenon Fool Me Once as Maya Stern.

The supporting lineup is equally impressive, including Mandeep Dhillon (After Life, MobLand), James Buckley (The Inbetweeners), Pearce Quigley (The Gentlemen), Rade Sherbedgia (Slow Horses), and Amelia Eve (The Haunting of Bly Manor) — a genuinely extraordinary ensemble.

The Dream Team Behind the Camera

The series reunites the exact creative dream team responsible for Netflix’s most bingeable British thrillers — lead writer and executive producer Danny Brocklehurst alongside Harlan Coben, with Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee also on board as executive producers.

Harlan Coben himself described the project as “a haunting and very personal story — twisty, turning, gasp-inducing — but at the core is a story of old love and yearning.” That alone is enough to have every thriller fan marking their calendars. whats-on-netflix
