Nagarjuna Akkineni and Tabu are all set to reunite on the big screen after 28 years with the tentatively titled King100, directed by Ra Karthik. But beyond the film announcement, what truly has fans emotional is the decades-long bond these two have openly spoken about — in interviews, on talk shows, and at public events. Here’s a look at all seven memorable moments.

King100: Overview

7 Times Nagarjuna and Tabu Spoke About Each Other

1. Nagarjuna calls Tabu a “fantastic friend” — Times of India

In a candid interview with Times of India, Nagarjuna opened his heart about their bond. He said their friendship goes way back to when he was 21 or 22 and she was just 16 — almost half a lifetime — and that when her name is mentioned, his face lights up. That’s the kind of warmth that no PR team can manufacture.

2. Tabu says she can’t label their relationship — Koffee with Karan (2007)

On Karan Johar’s famous couch, Tabu was asked directly about Nagarjuna. She described it as one of the most important and dear relationships in her life, admitting she has no label for it and cannot define it. It was one of the most honest moments on the show that year.

3. Tabu dismisses romance rumours — Koffee with Karan (2007)

In the same episode, Tabu didn’t shy away from addressing the gossip head-on. She pointed out that the Nagarjuna story keeps coming back, and joked that the media gives the impression that boyfriends come and go, but Nagarjuna always remains. Wit, grace, and zero drama — classic Tabu.

4. Nagarjuna on working with Tabu again — Public interviews

Nagarjuna has repeatedly expressed how comfortable he feels around her professionally. He once said that Tabu and he are close friends and that he can talk to her about anything — a rare level of ease that few co-stars ever achieve.

5. Tabu thanks Nagarjuna for her career — Public event

At a public gathering, Tabu made a heartfelt acknowledgment that surprised many. She thanked Nagarjuna for giving her one of the biggest hits of her career, and for giving her Pandu — referring to their iconic collaboration that remains close to her heart decades later.

6. Nagarjuna on Tabu joining King100 — Deccan Chronicle

When the King100 casting was confirmed, Nagarjuna spoke to Deccan Chronicle about how it came about. He revealed that when Tabu found out he was doing his hundredth film, she wanted to be a part of it — a gesture that speaks louder than any formal announcement.

7. Tabu shows up for Nagarjuna’s racing team launch — 2012

Long before King100 was even a thought, Tabu attended the 2012 launch of Nagarjuna’s racing team, saying she was there for both him and Amala because they asked her to be. A quiet, unannounced show of support — which tells you everything about the kind of friendship this really is.

Why This Reunion Matters

Their onscreen chemistry across multiple 90s blockbusters defined a golden era of Telugu cinema. King100 isn’t just Nagarjuna’s milestone film — it’s a celebration of one of Indian cinema’s most enduring and genuinely warm off-screen bonds.
