Get your tissues ready — Netflix just confirmed that Heartstopper Forever, the finale movie wrapping up one of the most beloved coming-of-age stories of our generation, drops on July 17, 2026. And yes, the timing is poetic: exactly four years after Season 1 first made us fall in love with Nick and Charlie on April 22, 2022.
If you’ve been following the best feel-good shows on Netflix, you already know how big this is.
Heartstopper Forever: Everything You Need to Know at a Glance

Why a Movie Instead of Season 4?
Creator Alice Oseman had a clear answer for fans who were surprised by the format shift. Without the pressure of episode cliffhangers, she said the team could craft something “more beautiful, sophisticated, and atmospheric” than a regular season. It’s a bold choice — and honestly, it sounds like exactly the sendoff this story deserves.
The film draws heavily from the sixth and final volume of Oseman’s acclaimed graphic novel series.
What’s the Story About?
Nick is heading to university. Charlie is finding a new independence at school. A long-distance relationship looms — and with it, some very real questions about whether first love can truly last forever.
Netflix’s official synopsis teases that “doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet,” while their friend group simultaneously navigates love, growing up, and moving on. Emotional? Absolutely.
Fans will also be thrilled to know Kit Connor and Joe Locke have been elevated to Executive Producers for the film — a well-deserved recognition for the duo who brought Nick and Charlie to life so authentically.
Cast Highlights
Returning fan favourites include Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Corinna Brown, and Olivia Colman. New additions — Anna Maxwell Martin and the legendary Derek Jacobi — hint at a more expansive, cinematic scale.
