A Spy, a North Korean Operative & a Former Gangster Walk Into a Chinese Restaurant — MBC’s Fifties Professionals Is the Action-Comedy of the Year

Three dangerous men. One remote island. A spinning gun on a table full of jjajangmyeon. MBC’s upcoming drama Fifties Professionals has just dropped its first posters — and they are already everything.

What Is Fifties Professionals About?

This MBC Friday-Saturday drama is a deliciously black comedy wrapped in an action thriller. Three seemingly ordinary middle-aged men — once at the very top of their respective dangerous fields — find themselves exiled to the remote island of Yeongseon following a mysterious incident. Now, a decade later, destiny pulls them back together on a bittersweet, comedic mission to finally uncover the truth about the fateful night that upended their lives. Think The Expendables meets a Korean neighbourhood convenience store. For more upcoming K-drama previews, head to TechnoSports.

Fifties Professionals: Meet the Three Dangerous Men

On the surface — a chef, a confused man, and a shopkeeper. Beneath that? Enough combined skill and history to take on anything. The contrast is the whole comedy.

The Poster That Says Everything

The newly released poster shows all three characters seated around a round table, their expressions dead serious — while the table itself is covered in the most absurd spread of half-and-half Chinese restaurant orders: jjamppong with jjajangmyeon, tangsuyuk with jjajangmyeon, fried rice and noodles all at once. The tension of their gazes versus the mundanity of the meal is pure visual comedy genius.

The motion poster takes it further — a handgun placed at the centre of the table slowly spins like a game of Russian roulette while the three men watch in tense silence. A voice narrates ominously: “That night, our fates changed.” The drama’s tone is locked in — thrilling, funny, and full of unspoken history. Fans of smart ensemble dramas will want to follow all updates at TechnoSports.

Why This Drama Has Serious Potential

The casting alone is a masterclass. Shin Ha Kyun is one of Korean television’s most versatile dramatic actors. Oh Jung Se became a household name globally after It’s Okay to Not Be Okay. Heo Sung Tae is one of the industry’s most reliably intense performers. Putting all three together in a comedy-action format — playing men who’ve quietly survived their wild pasts and now bicker over Chinese food orders — is genuinely inspired.
