SNL’s Star-Studded Cold Open: Trump, Tiger Woods, Melania, and Pete Hegseth Bring the Laughs

SNL just pulled off one of the wildest, most surprising comedy crossovers of the season. In the latest cold open, Donald Trump, Tiger Woods, Melania Trump, and Fox News’ Pete Hegseth all shared the spotlight in a sketch that had everyone talking. Seriously—the internet lit up over this one. The SNL Cold Open is still the main event for late-night comedy fans.

SNL Cold Open: The Setup: SNL’s Cold Open Tradition

Saturday Night Live’s cold open is where the show kicks things off, always aiming to capture the week’s biggest political and cultural buzz. This week, the SNL Cold Open cranked up the surprises with rapid-fire impressions and unexpected cameos. By putting Donald Trump front and center, SNL reminded everyone that political satire is still where it shines brightest.

But here’s the twist: the way they brought Tiger Woods and Melania into the mix, alongside Fox News mainstay Pete Hegseth, turned it into a true ensemble moment. Most recent sketches have stuck pretty close to the news cycle, but this cold open decided to just go for broke. It leaned into the ridiculous, channeling classic SNL unpredictability.

Guess what? That gamble paid off. As Variety pointed out, this crew brought a jolt of energy that made the episode pop and reminded viewers why SNL’s cold opens have become legendary. Fans didn’t wait—they started sharing clips and memes across social media before the monologue even started.

Trump Takes Center Stage: Political Satire at Its Best

The SNL Cold Open always feels sharper with a big political figure, and the latest Trump impression landed right on target. This one stood out because of the chemistry between the characters. Trump’s over-the-top confidence clashed—hilariously—with Tiger Woods’ laid-back vibe. Nobody expected these two to bounce off each other so well.

Once Melania showed up, the mood shifted again, giving the whole sketch this surreal, almost stage-play energy.

Pete Hegseth’s arrival was a sly wink at Fox News’ real-world grip on the conversation. The writers had fun with his TV persona, poking fun at the network’s unique spin without getting nasty. Instead, the sketch stayed fast, sharp, and honestly funny. The cast’s back-and-forth, especially between Trump and Melania, brought back memories of some of SNL’s best comic duos. It’s rare for the show to line up a cast this varied and pull it off—think of it like one of those TV crossovers fans always hope for, except with the classic SNL twist.
