Yami Gautam Predicted Dhurandhar’s Phenomenon Years Ago — And She Was 100% Right

Sometimes a wife just knows. Back in February 2024, Yami Gautam told the world that Aditya Dhar’s next film after Uri would be something nobody had ever seen before. Fast forward to 2026 — Dhurandhar: The Revenge is the highest-grossing Indian film of the year. Prophecy fulfilled.

What Did Yami Actually Say?

During a Pinkvilla interview promoting Article 370, Yami revealed she had already read the script of Aditya Dhar’s next project. Her words were electric — she said she knew the story, and it was a world audiences had never witnessed before. She even joked that she wished she were a guy just to be part of it. That project? Dhurandhar.

She added that being unpredictable and refusing to follow trends was always Aditya Dhar’s style — and that she was genuinely excited for what was coming.

Yami Gautam From Script to Blockbuster — The Dhurandhar Journey

Why This Moment Matters?

Aditya Dhar’s debut, Uri: The Surgical Strike, redefined Bollywood’s patriotic action genre and became a cultural landmark. The pressure on his sophomore directorial was immense. Yet Yami — who knows his creative process intimately — had zero doubts.

The fact that she called it a “never-before-seen” world, not just a good movie, says a lot. Dhurandhar was built differently from the ground up.

What Made Dhurandhar Break Every Rule?

Dhar didn’t make a sequel to Uri’s tone — he built an entirely new cinematic universe. A two-part spy thriller, a career-redefining turn by Ranveer Singh, and a scale that felt more global than anything Hindi cinema had attempted in years. Yami saw that ambition in the script years before cameras rolled.
