Sergio Aguero has been confirmed to be leaving Manchester City at the end of the ongoing season. This will mark the conclusion of a decade long association between the Argentinian striker and the club, where he has emerged as their best ever forward, as well as the highest scoring player in their history.
It is yet unclear as to where exactly Aguero will end up playing next year, with the likes of Chelsea, PSG, Leeds United and Barcelona all interested in his services next season.Â
Barcelona in particular, are still one of the favourites to land the player due to his friendship with Lionel Messi, who seems to be happy to stay at Camp Nou despite having an entire transfer saga in 2020. According to Fabrizio Romano, they have approached the player’s agent and have opened talks with him regarding Aguero’s signature.Â
Elsewhere, Barcelona are also expected to extend the contracts of their youth products, Riqui Puig and Oscar Mingueza up until 2023. The latter has been a regular in Barcelona’s backline, filling in for the injured Gerard Pique. But Puig has been starved for playing time this season, barely featuring in the starting lineup under Ronald Koeman.
Additionally, there are also talks surrounding right-back Sergi Roberto and whether or not he, too, will extend his contract with the club or not. The player could also extend his contract for two more years, but there is no agreement in place.
