How It Happened — A Moment CARATs Will Never Forget

The announcement came during the second and final night of SEVENTEEN’s world tour encore concerts at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, when leader S.Coups personally broke the news — becoming the first to publicly confirm that all members had completed their contract renewals with PLEDIS Entertainment.

S.Coups opened up about the weight of the moment, reflecting on 11 years together and noting how the thought of not having group concerts for a while prompted him to look back on everything they’d shared.

He also acknowledged members currently serving in the military, saying he wished Hoshi and Woozi could have been present for the moment, before delivering the words fans had been waiting for: “After having deep conversations among ourselves, all 13 of us decided to renew our contracts. We’ll stay on the same ship and keep rowing forward together with all our strength.”

Chills. Absolute chills.

Why This Renewal Matters So Much

In K-pop, the 7-year mark is notoriously called the “7-year curse” — the point at which many groups splinter. This marks SEVENTEEN’s second full-group renewal, following their 2021 contract extension soompi, meaning they’ve now consciously chosen each other twice. With some members actively completing their mandatory military service, the commitment feels even more deliberate and meaningful.

SEVENTEEN has built one of K-pop’s most loyal global fanbases — CARATs — through genuine artistry, self-produced music, and a group identity that never feels manufactured. This renewal is proof that the bond runs deeper than a contract.

FAQs

Q: What does SEVENTEEN’s renewal mean for upcoming activities?

A: Once all members complete their military duties, CARATs can expect full-group comebacks, tours, and new music — the ship, as S.Coups put it, is staying the course.
