“Everytime” — Milestone Details

A Decade Later, Still Giving Chills

On April 5, the music video for “Everytime” officially surpassed 300 million views on YouTube — approximately 10 years, one month, and 11 days after it was first uploaded on February 25, 2016. That slow, sustained climb to 300 million is more meaningful than a viral spike. It means people have been returning to this song consistently for a decade, pressing play every time Descendants of the Sun nostalgia hits — which, let’s be honest, is pretty regularly.

Descendants of the Sun was a cultural earthquake in 2016. The drama starring Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo became one of the most-watched Korean dramas ever, and its OST was a massive part of why. “Everytime” in particular — delivered with raw emotion by Chen of EXO and the silky vocals of Punch — became the emotional heartbeat of the show and a song fans simply couldn’t let go of.

Why This Song Has Such Incredible Longevity

There’s a reason “Everytime” keeps accumulating views a full decade after airing. It’s not just nostalgia — it’s genuinely great songwriting and vocal performance. Chen’s technically stunning tenor and Punch’s delicate, breathy delivery create a vocal combination that feels both dramatic and deeply personal.

The song captures exactly what K-drama OSTs do at their best: it amplifies a love story until you feel it in your bones, even if you’ve seen the episodes a dozen times already. Anyone who watched Descendants of the Sun in 2016 almost certainly cried at least once to this song. Many probably still do.
