It’s the crossover the internet didn’t know it needed. Olympic figure skater Cha Jun Hwan — one of South Korea’s most celebrated athletes — has officially signed with K-entertainment powerhouse Fantagio, signalling an exciting new chapter in his already remarkable career.
The Big Signing — What We Know
On April 2, OSEN reported that Cha Jun Hwan signed an exclusive contract with Fantagio. In response, a source from Fantagio confirmed, “It is true that we signed an exclusive contract with Cha Jun Hwan.” This marks Fantagio’s first exclusive contract with Cha Jun Hwan.
Fantagio is the same agency home to beloved Korean actors like Cha Eun-woo (ASTRO) and Kim Seon-ho — so this is very much a premium entertainment move.

The Actor Who Became a Champion — Now Returning to His First Love
This story has a beautiful full-circle quality to it. Before his skating career, Cha Jun Hwan was a child actor. On JTBC’s “Ask Us Anything,” he shared: “I was a child actor but transitioned into an athlete. After retiring, I want to try becoming an actor.”
Before becoming a sporting icon, he appeared in K-dramas like The Return of Iljimae and Night After Night. Interestingly, skating was originally just another skill he picked up to become a more versatile actor — and it became his greatest achievement. A Jun Hwan is expected to broaden his activities beyond his competitive career into those of an entertainer, having set new personal bests by winning gold at the 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games and finishing fourth at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
According to Wikipedia’s entry on Cha Jun-hwan, he is a ten-time consecutive South Korean national champion (2017–2026) and the first South Korean man to win a medal at the Four Continents Championships and the World Championships — a sporting legacy that will only amplify his entertainment debut.
