What Happens in Episode 4?

Episode 4 sees Greg throwing himself into helping a student in order to avoid Walt’s party, while Katie — now with her suspension finally lifted — begins considering the idea of casual dating and moving on from Archie.

It’s a smaller, more intimate episode that leans into what the show does best — quiet character moments packed with warmth and deadpan wit. Greg dodges Walt’s party by throwing himself into helping a student, while Katie — no longer suspended — starts weighing what casual dating looks like in her current reality. Empire Meanwhile, Archie’s complicated entanglement with Sunny looks set to deepen further.

Why Rooster Is This Season’s Must-Watch Comedy

The students always refer to Greg by the nickname “Rooster” — the name of the main character in his books — and Greg quickly discovers that actual campus life is far more disorderly and absurd than anything he ever wrote about.

Created by Bill Lawrence, the television producer behind global hits Ted Lasso and Shrinking, Rooster carries all the DNA fans love from those shows — genuine heart wrapped in sharp, generous comedy. The first episode drew 2.4 million viewers in its first three days, and it’s only growing from there.

Carell is effortlessly loveable as Greg, and critics have praised his soothing performance alongside Danielle Deadwyler’s exuberant support The Playlist — calling it “comfortingly familiar” with “humor and heart.”
