If there’s one Tamil film that’s been playing hide-and-seek with its release date, it’s Love Insurance Kompany (LIK). Directed by Vignesh Shivan and starring Pradeep Ranganathan, this much-anticipated sci-fi romantic comedy was set for April 3, 2026 — but reports now suggest it could be heading for yet another postponement. And honestly, at this point, fans have every right to feel a little exasperated.
Love Insurance Kompany : Overview
| Scheduled Release Date | Reason for Postponement |
|---|---|
| September 18, 2025 | Undisclosed reasons |
| October 17, 2025 (Diwali) | Clash with Dude (also Pradeep’s film) |
| December 18, 2025 | No update from makers |
| April 3, 2026 (Good Friday) | Malaysia censor board unavailable |
| April 10, 2026 (Likely new date) | Awaiting official confirmation |
So why might April 3 not happen? According to a report by Lets Cinema, the makers have been unable to obtain a censor certificate from Malaysia, as the film censor board there was closed until March 30, 2026, due to Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations. Given that Malaysia is a significant box office market for Tamil cinema, releasing without clearance there isn’t really an option. The makers are now reportedly eyeing April 10, 2026 as the revised release window.
There’s also a separate, unconfirmed rumour circulating that lead actor Pradeep Ranganathan is yet to finish dubbing — though the production house has not responded to this claim, so take it with a pinch of salt.

For those unfamiliar with the film, Love Insurance Kompany is set in a futuristic Chennai of 2040, where love itself has been commodified through apps and algorithms. Pradeep plays a man who believes in traditional romance, while Krithi Shetty plays a tech-driven woman. Their relationship soon becomes a threat to SJ Suryah’s character — the CEO of a love app — setting up a quirky battle between old-school emotion and corporate technology. The film also features Anirudh Ravichander, who not only composes the music but also voices a robot character. That alone makes it worth the wait.
