How Is Thaai Kizhavi Doing at the Box Office?
The film had a strong 2nd weekend, adding ₹13.25 crore with its Sunday haul alone touching ₹5.75 crore — a healthy hold that signals genuine word-of-mouth traction. Tamil Nadu is unsurprisingly carrying the weight with ₹34.25 crore of the total, but the film has also found pockets of love in Karnataka and across India.
At this trajectory, Thaai Kizhavi is expected to close its second week around ₹45 crore and comfortably cross the ₹50 crore gross milestone in its full run — a remarkable feat for a subject-driven Tamil film. Consider it a certified Hit at the box office.

What Is Thaai Kizhavi About?
The film centres on Pavunuthayi, a 70-year-old matriarch who runs a ruthless moneylending business in her village. Bold, formidable, and emotionally distant from her own children, her life unravels when a troubling incident forces her estranged sons to return home — ripping open years of buried wounds and family chaos. The story explores how this reunion impacts both the family and the entire village around them.
It’s the kind of human, layered storytelling that Tamil cinema has long been celebrated for globally, and Radhikaa Sarathkumar delivers a performance that anchors the whole film.
