Hardik Pandya and Mahieka Sharma Trolled for Lying Down on T20 World Cup Stage — India’s Victory Celebrations Get Awkward

India just won the T20 World Cup for a historic third time — and while the entire country was busy celebrating, Hardik Pandya found himself at the centre of a very different conversation. Not about his match performance, but about a viral moment with girlfriend Mahieka Sharma that has the internet divided.

What Actually Happened?

After India sealed a stunning hat-trick T20 World Cup win in Ahmedabad, the stadium erupted — fireworks, celebrations, family photos, the works. Amid all of this, a video of Hardik Pandya and Mahieka Sharma went viral showing the couple lying down together on the awards podium on the stadium stage, seemingly lost in their own world while the rest of the team celebrated around them.

Earlier in the evening, Mahieka had kissed Hardik on the ground, the couple danced together with the tricolour draped around them, and she was even seen sitting in his lap during the on-field celebrations. All sweet moments in isolation — but the podium video was the one that pushed internet users over the edge.

How Did the Internet React?

The trolling was swift and sharp. Users felt the display was deliberately over-the-top given the number of cameras present at the event.

Some of the most common reactions online:

• “Don’t even compare them to Virat and Anushka — not even close.”
• “Do this at home. Families were watching the match.”
• “They clearly know all the cameras are on them. It’s just OTT acting.”
• “How much attention do these two need?”

Several users also took digs at Hardik’s pattern of high-profile relationships, referencing his previous marriage to Natasa Stankovic and the very public nature of his personal life since then.

Hardik’s Response & What He Said

Despite the trolling, Hardik was in high spirits post-match. He spoke openly about Mahieka’s role in his life, crediting her support as a turning point. When asked about his future plans, he reportedly said that the last 10 years were one chapter, and the next 10 will be even better — with Mahieka by his side.
