If that title alone sent a chill down your spine, you’re not alone. Director Mo Wan Il — the mastermind behind one of the most emotionally devastating K-dramas ever made — is returning with a brand-new project, and the casting news just made the internet collectively lose its cool.

What Is Love Affair About?

Love Affair (literal title) follows someone living a seemingly perfect life — a happy marriage, a stable career — until a sudden, catastrophic love arrives out of nowhere, like a traffic accident. It dismantles everything. It’s the kind of premise that feels dangerously real, and in Mo Wan Il’s hands, you already know it’s going to hurt in the best possible way.

This is the same director who gave us The World of the Married — the record-smashing Korean drama that became a national obsession and one of the highest-rated cable dramas in Korean television history.

The Cast That Has Fans Buzzing

Lee Dong Wook has been offered the male lead role of Kim Ji Hoon, while Jung Yu Mi has reportedly been offered the role of Kim Ji Hoon’s wife. Jung Yu Mi’s agency Management SOOP confirmed she received the offer and is reviewing it positively.

The two previously starred together in the beloved fantasy romance Goblin (2016), which means this reunion alone is enough to send fans into a frenzy.
