The Football Players Association of India (FPAI) announced the Indian Football Awards for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons at an Annual Meeting held on Wednesday.
The player for the award was picked for the awards according to the number of votes he received from his colleagues in I-League and ISL. The voting for the 2020-21 season was conducted online due to the Covid-19 protocols which the players had to follow.
Indian national football team captain Sunil Chhetri won the FPAI Indian Player of the Year for the 2019-20 season, which was his third FPAI Indian Player of the Year award in his career. FPAI also felicitated former stalwarts of Indian football such as Savio Medeira, Bruno Coutinho, Derrick Pereira, Brahmanand Sankhwalkar, Clifford Reyes Miranda and Samir Naik during the annual meeting.
